STEM Fest 2024 was a full day of outstanding student displays of inquiry learning, hands-on STEM experiences, a Science show, prizes, and of course, presentation of medals. Over 60 students were registered with their projects for judging and another 12 students were showcasing their work.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to experience activities from the ASD-N ICE Centre (Aviation), FYidoctors, Centres of Excellence, The Gaia Project, Science East, and Brilliant Labs. Activities included:
- Piloting drones and an airplane cockpit simulator (ICE Centre)
- Eye Health and live eyeball dissection (FYidoctors)
- Designing weather-proof homes and wind turbines (Centres of Excellence)
- Learning about Climate Change and testing air quality (The Gaia Project)
- Hands-on Science games and Science show (Science East)
- Soldering light-up badges (Brilliant Labs)
There was a live radio broadcast and interviews by The Eagle’s Nest with Blackville students Stephen Brophy & Raelyn Sherrard as well as a telescope display and information from Mary King & Yves St-Germain from the Royal Astronomical Society – NB.
A huge ‘Thank You’ goes out to our students, teachers, parents, judges, presenters, sponsors, volunteers, attendees and organizers.
The following students received special recognition for their projects and Grades 6-12 qualified for the North-West Regionals on March 19th 2024 in Fredericton, NB.
